Elektrizität spielt eine wichtige Rolle bei der Aufrechterhaltung städtischer Dienste.
Das Ziel der SCRAM besteht darin, eine gemeinsame Methodik für die Entwicklung der Referenzarchitektur für Smart Cities (SCRA, en: Smart Cities Reference Architecture) anzubieten, die als gemeinsame und adaptierbare Vorlage für die Architektur praktisch jedes Stadtsystems verwendet werden kann. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, legt die SCRAM Perspektiven sowie Modell- und Maßverkörperungstypen fest, die für die SCRA erforderlich sind.
In der SCRA wird die in SCRAM entwickelte Methodik für die Entwicklung der Architektur für Smart Cities (SCRA, en: Smart Cities Reference Architecture) angeboten, als gemeinsame und adaptierbare Vorlage für die Architektur praktisch jedes Stadtsystems anwendbar. Um dieses Ziel zu erreichen, werden in SCRA eine Vorlage für die Modell- und Maßverkörperungstypen aufgezeigt.
Diese SRD folgt methodisch dem IEC-Systemansatzes und konkretisiert diesen in Bezug zur STUFE 5 - Standardanalyse.
Es wird sich darauf konzentriert, welche relevanten Standards für alle verschiedenen Teile des Systems existieren und ob diese zu den identifizierten Zielen beitragen oder der in Stufe 1, Marktanalyse entgegenstehen.

Ziel dieser SRD ist es, eine umfassende Reihe von Anwendungsfällen zu sammeln und zu analysieren, um die Anforderungen für weitere ggf. notwendige Standards für interessierte Kommunen festzulegen.
