Overview

This standard is a test standard and part of the standard series DIN EN ISO 6887 for preparation of test portions and initial suspensions and decimal dilutions for microbiological examination. The primary production includes all stages from the farm to the slaughterhouse. The scope includes samples taken for detection and/or enumeration of microorganisms from live animals or the environment. Samples taken to assess the hygiene of meat are excluded. This part of ISO 6887 is applicable to various samples taken from the hatchery, the farm, from the vehicle or the animals during transportation, or from animals or their carcasses in the slaughterhouse, to indicate the microbiological status of the animals in relation to zoonotic agents. The standard serves in particular for health-related consumer protection and product quality. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-01-06-22 AK "Primärproduktion" ("Primary production stage") at DIN.
