Overview
The document specifies a test method for determining the peel resistance of the upper from the outsole or adjacent layers from the outsole or for measuring the resistance to tearing of the upper on the whole footwear, starting at the toe of the shoe. The force applied for the separation is measured. The document applies to all types of footwear (cemented, vulcanized, moulded, etcetera) for which assessment of the upper-sole adhesion on the upper is necessary. The test does not have to be carried out if adhesion is achieved by other attachment methods, for example, by using nails or screws, or by sewing. The Committee responsible for this standard is NA 062-04-52 AA "Schuhe" ("Footwear") at DIN.
