The Executive Board manages the business affairs of DIN. It is responsible for the proper conduct of DIN's business in technical, organizational and commercial respects.
Chairman of the Executive Board
After completing his studies in computer science at the University of Karlsruhe, Christoph Winterhalter began his professional career in 1995 with his first position at ABB. He was initially involved in various engineering, development and product management functions in Norway, the USA and Germany before taking over the management of the robot automation and robot product divisions in Germany in 2006. In 2010 he joined ABB Corporate Research as Director of the German Corporate Research Center, overseeing key research activities for the ABB group in the areas of factory automation, plant automation and building automation. In 2013 he became the head of the global business for machinery controls and automation. Before Winterhalter came to DIN, he was Group Vice President, Hub Business Unit Manager, Control Technologies at ABB. In this role he headed up ABB’s controls system business in Central Europe. Since July 2016 Winterhalter is Chairman of DIN's Executive Board.
In addition to his professional engagement, he is a former member of the executive board and current member of the steering committee of the VDI/VDE GMA, and has also been involved in different capacities within ZVEI and the Industry 4.0 platform.
Executive Board Member
Rüdiger Marquardt was born in Lüneburg. After completing his studies in automotive engineering in Hamburg, Marquardt joined the Hamburg publishing company Verlag Handwerk und Technik in 1980 where he was responsible for the area of metals.
Marquardt joined Beuth Verlag, a subsidiary of DIN, in 1984 and held a number of positions there, most recently as Managing Director. In 2003 he changed over to DIN where he took on the responsibility for standards management, including process management, human resources planning, and introducing IT tools. In May 2007 Marquardt became Head of DIN's Innovation Division. In July 2011 he joined the Executive Board, acting as Vice Director, and as from May 2013 Marquardt has been a member of DIN's Executive Board.
