Testing of carbonaceous materials - Determination of content of dedusting substances in cokes by extraction - Solid materials
Prüfung von Kohlenstoffmaterialien - Bestimmung des Gehaltes an staubbindenden Stoffen in Koksen durch Extraktion - Feststoffe
Overview
This method is used for determination of the content of extractable dust-binding substances in coke. In order to prevent dust formation coke is sprayed with dust-binding substances. A ground coke sample is treated with a solvent in a Soxhlet extractor. The extracted fraction is gravimetrically determined after the solvent has been distilled off. A coke sample treated according to this method can be used, for example, to determine the density according to the xylene method as specified in DIN 51901 and/or the hydrogen content in accordance with DIN 51912. Coke may also contain dust-binding substances that cannot be extracted with a solvent.
