This document has been prepared at DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring") in collaboration with DIN Standards Committee Round Steel Link Chains (NRK), Working Committee NA 085-00-05 AA "Rundstahlketten, Einzelteile und Zubehör für die Schifffahrt" ("Round steel link chains, components and accessories for marine purposes"). This document is applicable to towing shackles M used in towing tackle according to VG 84544-1 or VG 84560 on watercrafts of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy). The use of this towing shackle can be found in the rigging plans for the respective ship class.
