DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing

Overview

This document specifies a method for the calibration of reference blocks to be used for the indirect and daily verification of Rockwell hardness testing machines and indenters, as specified in ISO 6508-2. This document also specifies requirements for Rockwell machines and indenters used for calibrating reference blocks and specifies methods for their calibration and verification. Attention is drawn to the fact that the use of hard metal for ball indenters is considered to be the standard type of Rockwell indenter ball. This document (EN ISO 6508-3:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 164 "Mechanical testing of metals" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 459 "ECISS - Committee for Iron and Steel Standardization", the secretariat of which is held by AFNOR (France). The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 062-01-41 AA "Härteprüfung für Metalle" ("Hardness testing for metals") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
