DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing
Metallic coatings - Electroplated coatings of nickel plus chromium and of copper plus nickel plus chromium on plastics materials
Abstract
This document specifies requirements for corrosion-protective, decorative-functional, electrodeposited chromium coatings from chromium(VI)-based electrolytes on nickel and copper-nickel coatings on plastics as well as corresponding test methods. For electroplated nickel-chromium and copper-nickel-chromium coatings on plastics in which the chromium coatings are deposited from chromium(III)-based electrolytes, see DIN 53099 [2]. For electroplated nickel-chromium and copper-nickel-chromium coatings from chromium(VI)-based electrolytes on metals, see DIN EN ISO 1456 [3]. This document is not applicable to electroplated coatings deposited on plastics for technical purposes. WARNING - When using this document, the relevant safety regulations such as the Ordinance on Hazardous Substances, the MAK value list (MAK = maximum workplace concentration), the occupational exposure limit values (OEL) and workplace guideline concentrations (ARW) and other technical regulations are of importance. CAUTION - Some of the tests described in this document involve the use of procedures that may lead to a hazardous situation.
