Title (German)

Hilfsmittel für Menschen mit Behinderungen - Klassifikation und Terminologie (ISO 9999:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 9999:2016

Overview

Devices (including software) are classified according to their function. The classification is based on three hierarchical levels, with each code consisting of three two-digit numbers. As in other classifications, codes, designations, explanations, inclusions, exclusions and cross-references are given for each level. This standard creates a classification for assistive devices, whether custom-made or consumer goods, for people with disabilities. Assistive products that require assistance from another person for use by persons with disabilities are included in the classification. A conversion table with changes between the previous version (2011) and the current version as well as an alphabetical index is included in this document to improve the usability and accessibility of the classification. This edition includes 945 terms, of which approximately 44 are new and 456 have been changed, including minor editorial and grammatical changes. This document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 173 "Assistive products for persons with disabilities" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 293 "Technical aids for disabled persons". The responsible German committee is Working Committee NA 063-06-01 AA "Terminologie" ("Terminology") at DIN Standards Committee Medicine (NAMed).
