Overview
This document deals with the safety of gas, oil and solid-fuel burning appliances having electrical connections, for household and similar purposes. This document recognizes the internationally accepted level of protection against hazards, such as electrical, mechanical, and thermal hazards, as well as fire and radiation hazards posed by electrical equipment when operated properly in accordance with the instructions for use. It also covers unusual situations that are nevertheless to be expected in practice and takes the ways in which electromagnetic phenomena can affect the safe operation of equipment into consideration. This standard does not apply to appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes.
