Fireplaces fired by solid fuel - Technical specifications for installation
Feuerstätten für feste Brennstoffe - Technische Regeln für die Installation
Overview
As a result of the differences in building regulations governing the installation and operation of fireplaces fired by solid fuels within EU Member States, it is necessary to create national regulations in order to ensure compliance with statutory requirements in Germany. This document specifies the installation and operation of fireplaces and their components in buildings in accordance with the DIN EN 16510 series of standards or their predecessor standards DIN EN 13229, DIN EN 13240, DIN EN 12815, DIN EN 14785, and DIN EN 15250. This document applies to the installation and operation of fireplaces fired by solid fuels that meet the requirements of the harmonized standards in accordance with the Construction Products Regulation or, if no harmonized standards are yet available for these, that meet the national verifications of fitness for use. For fireplaces in buildings that are individually handcrafted on-site and are not type-tested, the Technical Regulations for the Stove and Air Heating Installation Trade (TROL) contain corresponding provisions. With regard to the use of fireplaces fired by solid fuels, the Ecodesign Regulation (EU) 2015/1185 and the First Federal Immission Control Ordinance [BImSchV] shall also be observed. In particular, these regulations govern requirements for CO, OGC, NOx, and dust emissions, as well as efficiency. Local requirements may exceed the provisions of the aforementioned regulations. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 040-01-01 AA "Feuerstätten für feste Brennstoffe" ("Appliances fired by solid fuels") at DIN Standards Committee Heating and Cooking Equipment.
