Abstract
This document specifies the performance characteristics of conversion coatings on aluminum or aluminum alloys. This document does not apply to coatings produced by anodic oxidation. This document specifies the designations for the coating systems described. Performance characteristics are: — Corrosion resistance; — Conductivity; — Overcoatability; — Bondability; — Vulcanizability. WARNING — The materials, processes, and test equipment described in this standard may be hazardous to health if proper precautions are not taken.
