Overview
This European standard specifies the safety requirements and their verification with respect to the design and construction of electrically powered walk-behind and hand-held lawn trimmers and lawn edge trimmers with (a) cutting element(s) comprising non-metallic filament lines or (a) freely pivoting non-metallic cutter(s) to be used by a standing operator for cutting grass, where each cutting element has a maximum kinetic energy of 10 Joules and a maximum rated voltage of 250 V for alternating current and 75 V for direct current. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 60335-2-91 (VDE 0700-91):2004-01: - some clauses have been rewritten; - alignment with EN 60335-1:2012; optimization of clause 20.102. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 514.3 "Garten- und Rasenpflegegeräte" ("Garden and lawn equipment") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
