DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering

Overview

This document applies to involute splines based on reference diameters in accordance with DIN 5480-1 and DIN 5480-2. It specifies the acceptance tests for involute splines and describes the gauges used and their testing. The standard differs from DIN 5480-15:2006-03 and DIN 5480-15 Corrigendum 1:2009-01 as follows: a) Clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated; b) Clause 4 "Symbols, abbreviations, and indices" has been revised; c) a recommendation for a reduction factor for workpiece qualities has been added below Table 7; d) the formula in the third row has been corrected in Table 9; e) the words "(negative for hubs)" have been removed from the eleventh line in Table 9; f) the words "(negative for hubs)" have been removed from the thirteenth line in Table 9; g),the specification for the tip diameter of the "not go" plug gauge in Table 12 has been corrected; h) bibliography updated; i) the document has been editorially revised. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 060-34-31 AA "Passverzahnungen (SpA ISO/TC 14 und ISO/TC 14/WG 1)" ("Splines (mirror committee to ISO/TC 14 and ISO/TC 14/WG 1)") of Technical Section "Gear" at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of manufacturers and users of "splines" participated in its preparation.
