Involute splines based on reference diameters - Part 1: Generalities

Overview
This document applies to involute spline connections based on reference diameters for detachable, slidable, or fixed connection of shafts and hubs and specifies the following generalities: a) uniform pressure angle of 30°; b) the same reference profile for all pitches, resulting in a uniform generating rule for all profiles; c) flank centering. In exceptional cases, diameter centering; d) use of profile corrections to achieve specific reference diameters; e) the fit system includes tolerances for effective form deviations, so that their influence on the fit clearance is taken into consideration. All requirements are met through the possible selection of different dimension series and tolerance classes. The standard differs from DIN 5480-1:2006-03 as follows: a) Clause 2 "Normative references" has been updated; b) Clause 4 "Symbols, abbreviations, and indices" has been revised; c) Tables 1 and 2 have been revised; d) Annex A has been supplemented; e) the standard has been editorially revised; f) the bibliography has been updated. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 060-34-31 AA "Passverzahnungen (SpA ISO/TC 14 und ISO/TC 14/WG 1)" ("Splines (mirror committee to ISO/TC 14 and ISO/TC 14/WG 1)") of Technical Section "Gear" at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM).
