Title (German)

Gerberei-Maschinen - Walzenmaschinen - Sicherheitsanforderungen; Deutsche Fassung EN 972:1998+A1:2010

Overview

This document is a type C standard as stated in EN ISO 12100. This European Standard describes safety requirements for all the phases of the life of a machine listed in 5.3 a) of EN ISO 12100-1:2003. Reciprocating roller machines are machines used for the processing of animal hides and skins. They have a reciprocating opening or closing motion of the rollers which, if required, may also reverse their direction. This European Standard covers the following reciprocating roller machines: a) buffing machines b) polishing machines c) ironing machines (woolskins and fur) d) carding machines e) shearing machines (woolskins and fur) f) cylinder universal staking machines g) setting-out machines h) dewooling machines i) scudding machines j) unhairing (dehairing) machines k) sammying machines l) cylinder ironing machines m) cylinder staking machines n) fleshing machines o) demanuring machines p) wet wheeling machines q) shaving machines (feed-out) r) shaving machines (feed-in) The standard takes account of intended use, foreseeable misuse, component and systems failure. This European Standard is not applicable to reciprocating roller machines which are manufactured before the date of its publication. This European Standard contains provisions for the reduction of noise emission at the design stage. However, it does not provide a noise test code for the determination by measurement of noise emission values for the machines it covers. Without such a code the manufacturer cannot fulfil his obligation to provide the noise emission values of the machines put on the market. All the significant hazards are dealt with in this European Standard except the following: - dust, smoke and vapour emissions; - fire. For these hazards general guidelines are proposed in normative annexes. This standard contains the German version of EN 982:1998+A1:2010, which has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 200 "Tannery machinery- Safety" at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 972:1998: a) modification of the introduction b) modification of clause 1, Scope c) update of clause 2, Normative references d) modification of clause 3, Terms and definitions e) modification of clause 4, List of significant hazards f) modifications of clause 5, Safety requirements and/or protective measures g) modification of clause 6, Verification of safety requirements h) modification of clause 7, Information for use i) modification of Annex A j) modification of Annex E k) modification of Annex ZA l) an informative Annex ZA on the relationship between this European Standard and the essential requirements of the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC has been incorporated m) modification of the figures. The national interests during the preparation of the standard were represented by Committee NA 060-26-69-02 AK "Lederherstellungs- und Pelzmaschinen" ("Machines for the manufacture of leather and fur") of the Mechanical Engineering Standards Committee (NAM) at DIN. The preparation of the standard was carried out without German collaboration due to lacking representatives; the standard was prepared purely formally.
