Mechanical products - Ecodesign methodology

Standardization on ecodesign and other environmental aspects for mechanical products throughout the life cycle of products: ⎯ to provide pragmatic methodologies and guidance and integrate concerns, ⎯ to identify and evaluate the environmental aspects of a product, ⎯ to improve product design, ⎯ to facilitate the transition towards a circular economy, ⎯ to support European legislation, policies and/or regulatory frameworks, ⎯ to facilitate declaration and communication on environmental performance of products. NOTE In this context, “mechanical product” is a product manufactured by enterprises from mechanical engineering and metalworking industry, such as capital goods (machinery, production systems, components), tools, household goods, optical parts, measuring instruments. The work of CEN/TC 406 is not intended to develop any specific product standards covered by other technical committees.
