Overview

This Technical Specification specifies requirements for verification by economic operators of conformity with the sustainability criteria for biofuels and bioliquids in accordance with the legal requirements required in article 18 of "Directive 2009/28/EC on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources and amending and subsequently repealing Directives 2001/77/EC and 2003/30/EC" (Renewable Energy Directive, RED). This Technical Specification is applicable to the initial biomass production or to the point of collection for waste and residue and to each stage within the chain of custody. It also specifies requirements for conformity assessment bodies how conformity with this Technical Specification shall be tested. The committee responsible for this Technical Specification is NA 172-00-10 AA "Nachhaltigkeitskriterien für Biomasse" ("Sustainability criteria for biomass") at DIN.
