DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection

Overview

This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 031-03-05 AA "Anlagen zur Löschwasserversorgung einschließlich Wandhydranten" ("Installations for supply of water for firefighting including fire hose systems") at DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection (FNFW). This document specifies requirements for landing ball valves used to connect hose assemblies with nozzles for firefighting purposes. The landing ball valve is installed in a cabinet in accordance with DIN 14461-2. These landing ball valves are intended for use in dry fire water systems in accordance with DIN 14462. The fire extinguishing water supply pipes are only supplied with water and pressurized by the fire brigade when required, and are drained again after the operation is complete. See DIN 14461-3 for the withdrawal of fire extinguishing water from dry risers that are constantly filled and pressurized. Landing ball valves in accordance with this standard are generally not suitable for this purpose. DIN 14461, Delivery valve installation, consists of the following parts: - Part 1: Hose reel with semi-rigid hose; - Part 2: Supply stations and discharge points for dry risers; - Part 3: Fire hose valves for nominal pressure PN 16; - Part 4: Breeching inlet PN 16 for dry risers; - Part 5: Landing ball valve PN 16 for dry risers; - Part 6: Wall hydrants with flat hose for trained personnel; - Part 10: Conformity assessment of fittings for delivery valve installations for firefighting purposes.
