DIN Standards Committee Firefighting and Fire Protection

Standards [Withdrawn]

DIN 14060
Fire fighting equipment - Trough

Title (German)

Feuerwehrwesen - Mulde

Overview

This standard is applicable to troughs that are carried along on fire fighting vehicles and assist the fire brigade, for instance, in clearing away, fire debris or collecting liquids at the site of use. The standard specifies their dimensions, designation, materials, design, maximum masses and marking. The revision of the standard edition of December 1980 became necessary in order to carry out dimensional modifications and to adapt the material standard references to the current status. During discussion in the working committee it became clear that a trough with a larger capacity would be too heavy and cumbersome. Furthermore, there exists very little need for troughs made of non-spark generating material such as stainless steel. Therefore, a standardization of troughs made of these types of materials is not currently necessary. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN 14060:1980-12: a) internal dimensions of the handle specified at 60 mm; b) material standard references adapted to the current status; c) requirement on the marking revised; d) all normative references adapted and for that purpose DIN 668, DIN 1541, DIN 1623-1, DIN 7168-1 and DIN 17100 omitted and DIN EN 10025-2, DIN EN 10130, DIN EN 10278 and DIN ISO 2768-1 incorporated instead; e) standard content editorially revised. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 031-04-09 AA "Sonstige Ausrüstung - SpA zu CEN/TC 192/WG 5" ("Auxiliary equipment - Mirror Committee for CEN/TC 192/WG 5") at DIN.
