Trade services

Trade services

Trade services include retailing and wholesaling services for a wide range of products (including clothing, foodstuffs, furniture, cosmetics, recreational equipment, toys or electronics) and even large items such as cars or trucks.

Retail services involve the sale of goods to the end customer, while wholesaling is the sale of goods to commercial businesses and other retailers. There are three main categories of wholesaler:

  1. merchant wholesalers (who "take title to", or own, their products and sell them to resellers, retailers, distributors and other wholesalers),
  2. manufacturers’ sales branches, and
  3. agents and brokers (who do not "take title to", i.e. own, the goods).

Other types of wholesaler include the specialty wholesaler (who carry only a narrow range of products) and the discount wholesaler.
