This document has been prepared at DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring") in collaboration with DIN Standards Committee Round Steel Link Chains (NRK), Working Committee NA 085-00-05 AA "Rundstahlketten, Einzelteile und Zubehör für die Schifffahrt" ("Round steel link chains, components and accessories for marine purposes"). This standard is applicable to non-magnetizable lashing links which are used both on board of surface watercraft as well as submarines of the Deutsche Marine (German Navy). They are components of non-magnetizable chain outboard shots as specified in VG 84522. The lashing chain of the anchor lashing is passed through the free space of the quality grade NM lashing links (enveloping circle d3) in accordance with VG 84535-2. As a result, the lashing links absorb the lashing forces applied by the lashing chain (as in DIN 81859).
