Overview
Within the scope of international cooperation and oil spill response, where uniform terminology is essential, NA 132-02-11 AA decided to prepare a German translation of the technical terms, definitions, and measures in order to facilitate communication for German-speaking users both nationally and internationally and to standardize language usage. The international document ISO 16165:2020 has been incorporated into this standard unchanged, without verifying the applicability or admissibility of the terms, definitions, or measures listed under applicable German laws, regulations, and codes. This document contains terms and definitions relating to oil spills and their control. This document provides standardized terminology relating to oil spill response, defined as the broad range of activities related to spill cleanup, including surveillance and assessment, containment, recovery, dispersant use, in situ burning, shoreline cleanup and disposal. The responsible national standardization committee is Working Committee NA 132-02-11 AA "Schutz der Meeresumwelt" ("Marine environment protection") at DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT).
