Overview
This standard describes the additional measures to be taken for water craft for the corrosion protection of underwater surfaces including the appendages, propellers and shafts with the deployment of additional anodes during shipyard and arsenal laydays. The required pieces of equipment and procedures are specified. This additional cathodic protection is to prevent premature material loss on anodes permanently attached to the underwater surface of the vessel or corrosion in the case of cathodic self-protection that has lost its effectiveness.
