Abstract
This document has been prepared by the DIN Standards Committee Shipbuilding and Marine Technology (NSMT), working committee NA 132-01-05 AA "Heaving, towing, anchoring".
This document is applicable to towing harnesses with magnetizable and non-magnetizable metallic and textile components used on German Navy vessels.
In this case, the individual metal towing brackets (see VG 84554-1 and VG 84554-2) and double shackles (see VG 84553-1, VG 84553-2 and VG 84553-3) are replaced by textile shackles.
The function of the shear bolt as a predetermined breaking point is ensured by a smaller textile shackle (predetermined breaking shackle) with a defined breaking load.
This document is not applicable to towing equipment on tugs, salvage vessels and submarines.
It specifies the composition, dimensions, requirements and tests for towing equipments.
