Ships and marine technology - Ergonomics on ships - Part 1: Overview

Abstract

This document presents ergonomic requirements for the planning and selection of ships and watercraft with workplaces and defines essential ergonomic principles and concepts. These are applicable to the design and evaluation of tasks, activities, products, work equipment, equipment, systems, organizations, services, facilities and environments in order to adapt them to the characteristics, needs and values, abilities and limitations of people. The specifications and guidelines in this national document are intended to improve the safety, performance, effectiveness and efficiency, reliability, availability and maintainability of the design solution throughout its life cycle, while ensuring and promoting the health, well-being and satisfaction of the persons involved or affected. The intended users of this standard are designers, manufacturers and procurers.
