Overview
Road weather information systems (RWIS) are complex structures used as decision-making aids for road maintenance services and usually comprise the following components: meteorological sensors and instruments, transmission technology, computer systems for processing, displaying and storing information, road condition and weather forecasts, warnings in relation to traffic control and traffic information systems, and others. This European Specification specifies the test procedures for verifying the requirements for stationary installations set out in EN 15518-3. The aim is to enable objective and repeatable analysis and evaluation of the measurements. Committeee NA 051-04-01 AA "Maschinen für den Winterdienst" ("Machinery for winter maintenance") at DIN is responsible for this Technical Specification.
