Wood preservatives - Determination of toxic values against Reticulitermes species (European termites) (Laboratory method); German version EN 117:2023
Holzschutzmittel - Bestimmung der Grenze der Wirksamkeit gegenüber Reticulitermes-Arten (Europäische Termiten) (Laboratoriumsverfahren); Deutsche Fassung EN 117:2023
Overview
This European Standard specifies a method for determining the effectiveness of a wood preservative against Reticulitermes species of European termites. This method is applicable to water-insoluble chemicals which are being studied as active insecticides organic water-dispersible formulations as supplied or as prepared in the laboratory by dilution of concentrates, and water-soluble materials, for example salts. This standard differs from DIN EN 117:2013-01 as follows: the required purity of fine white quartz sand for preparing a termite colony has been lowered. In addition, the values for testing for termite infestation in classes 2i) and 3i) have been slightly changed to close rating gaps. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 042-03-06 AA "Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 38 Dauerhaftigkeit von Holz und Holzprodukten" ("Mirror Committee of CEN/TC 38 Durability of wood and wood-based products") at DIN.
