Nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP) and lightning protection - Test methods, test equipment and limits - Part 70: Galvanic injection of NEMP disturbing quantities into cable terminals and cable shields of equipment (Test method LF 70); Text in German and English
Schutz gegen Nuklear-Elektromagnetischen Impuls (NEMP) und Blitzschlag - Prüfverfahren, Prüfeinrichtungen und Grenzwerte - Teil 70: Galvanische Einspeisung von NEMP-Störgrößen in die Kabel-/ Leitungsanschlüsse und auf Kabel-/Leitungsschirme von Geräten (Verfahren LF 70); Text Deutsch und Englisch
Overview
This document is applicable to equipment to be developed or procured for, or to be furnished to the Bundeswehr. It is also applicable to the modernisation of equipment already introduced. The document specifies requirements for the protection against the effects of an exo-NEMP. The test method according to this document is intended for verifying the required immunity to destruction of equipment caused by conducted disturbances which, in the case of an exo-NEMP, can couple into all electrically conductive connections of compact systems on metallic equipment carriers. The aim is to establish a basic strength for equipment. However, this does not automatically guarantee NEMP protection of the equipment after incorporation into an overall system. When applying this test method, the NEMP disturbance is galvanically fed into the cable terminals and cable shields of equipment.
