Overview

This standard shall apply to equipment and systems to be developed or procured for, or provided to the Bundeswehr. The standard specifies the test procedure and the test parameters to be applied to the simulation of lightning interference coupled into lines. Such interference may be caused by the conductive, capacitive, or inductive coupling of surge voltages or surge currents. Testing in accordance with the standard may be applied to test telecommunication or power lines (both-common mode and differential-mode) inside and outside of buildings, facilities, and mobile systems in all cases where interference coupling may occur. Apart from the test method LF 76 described herein the test method LF 75 defined in VG 96903-75 can be applied to simulate lightning interference coupling into lines. The lightning threat values are contained in VG 95371-10. The committee responsible for the VG 96903-76 standard is NA 140-00-19 AA "Nuklear-Elektromagnetischer Puls (NEMP) und Blitz" ("Nuclear electromagnetic pulse (NEMP) and lightning protection") at DIN Standards Committee Electrical Engineering.
