Procedures of dosimetry with probe-type detectors for photon and electron radiation - Part 8: MR-Accelerator dosimetry of high energy photon radiation
Abstract
This document specifies a dosimetry measurement procedure according to the probe method for the determination of the absorbed dose to water and absorbed dose rate to water in water using open, air-filled ionization chambers in the presence of magnetic fields. This document is applicable to dosimetry measurements on MR linacs: - where the direction of incidence of the high-energy photon radiation and the direction of the magnetic flux density are perpendicular to each other, - in high-energy photon radiation fields with nominal accelerating potentials in the range from 6 MV to 7 MV and field sizes of at least 4 cm × 4 cm, - in the presence of magnetic fields with magnetic flux densities of 0.35 T or 1.5 T. This document is not applicable to MR linacs where the direction of incidence of the high-energy photon radiation is parallel to the direction of the magnetic flux density (e.g. MagneTx Aurora-RT™). The determination of relative dose distributions in water (e.g. relative depth-dose distributions, transverse dose profiles, or output factors) in the presence of magnetic fields is not covered in this document. The designations MRIdian™ and Unity™ referred to in this document are the trade names of the MR linacs supplied by Viewray Systems Inc. and Elekta AB, respectively.
