Overview

This DIN SPEC describes in the form of a guideline how to deal with the uncertainty of vibration quantities (vibration characteristics, vibration parameters). The guideline defines procedures for determining the uncertainty of measured, calculated or predicted vibration characteristics (vibration parameters). In addition, this guideline indicates how to deal with uncertainty when comparing determined values with requirement values. This guideline can be used to determine the uncertainty of vibration quantities in practice and to prepare standards for the various fields of application. This DIN SPEC contains annexes with examples for the practical handling of the measurement uncertainty in the fields of hand-arm vibration exposure at the workplace, hand-arm vibration characteristics of machines as well as vibrations in pollution control. Further annexes with examples from other application areas are planned for the final edition of this DIN SPEC. This DIN SPEC has been prepared at the suggestion of Advisory Board of the DIN/VDI Standards Committee Acoustics, Noise Control and Vibration Engineering (NALS) and the Advisory Board Special Committee NA 001 BR-04 SO "Uncertainty of vibration quantities".
