Vibration measurement on railway traffic systems - Part 4: Methods for determining secondary airborne sound
Abstract
This document specifies procedures for determining secondary airborne sound occurring inside rooms. The procedures are related to the planning, construction and operation of urban rail systems (tramways, light rail and underground railways) and railways, as well as to the planning of new buildings within their sphere of influence. The procedures are applicable to the following tasks:
- carrying out a baseline measurement for condition documentation of an existing immission situation (e.g. prior to a modification of the railway route);
- assessing an existing situation regarding its impact on people in buildings (e.g. in response to complaints from residents);
- forecasts for the assessment of secondary airborne sound in existing buildings when constructing new or modifying existing railway traffic routes;
- forecasts for the assessment of secondary airborne sound when constructing new buildings next to existing railway routes;
- carrying out measurements after modification or new construction to verify immission forecasts; and
- determining the acoustic effect of vibration-reduction measures depending on the local boundary conditions
.
