Community Aspects

Standardization in the field of the social, cultural, economic aspects of smart and sustainable cities and communities, with the primary objectives to preserve local culture, strengthen community identity and belonging, enhance inclusive well-being and foster responsive industrial growth and sectoral development proactively responding to climate change. By addressing the needs of different age groups, it ensures that technological and sustainable initiatives align with the diverse requirements and aspirations of urban populations.

The subcommittee develops standards and practical guidance for planners, designers, socio-economic experts and practitioners, by engaging collaboration between different types of stakeholders. Excluded: Horizontal aspects for smart and sustainable cities and communities. Technical aspects covering smart community infrastructure, sustainable mobility and transportation, ICT and digitalization, and system integration topics, where the emphasis is on performance metrics, engineering specifications, data models, testing methods, or integration architectures for city and community operations.

Note 1: People-centred approaches, such as ethics, cultural values, and community outcomes, will be prioritized as the foundation for SC 5, rather than being treated as peripheral or later additions. They guide economic and social activities across all relevant sectors and shape their practical implications in diverse community contexts.
