Lighting of street tunnels and underpasses - Part 1: General quality characteristics and guide values
Abstract
This document applies to the lighting of tunnels and underpasses for motor vehicle traffic, including when such traffic is mixed with other road users. Because tunnels and underpasses are treated similarly from a lighting perspective, the term "tunnels" is used exclusively in the following. NOTE: It is not the purpose of this document to determine whether a tunnel requires lighting. The need to light a tunnel is generally determined by the competent authority.
