Overview
Bolted connections with reduced shank in accordance with this standard are preferably used in applications where it is necessary to generally ensure that the preload is maintained and the bolted connections remain durable under alternating mechanical and thermal stresses. The purpose of this Supplement is to facilitate the designer's work and to provide guidelines for their own calculations. The studies have been selected primarily from the field of turbine construction, as this is where the highest requirements are generally placed on bolted connections with reduced shank. This document has been prepared by Working Committee NA 067-00-02 AA "Verbindungselemente mit metrischem Außengewinde" ("Fasteners with metric external threads") at DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV).
