DKE German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies of DIN and VDE

Overview

This part of the IEC 61812 applies to time relays and coupling relays for industrial applications (for example control, automation, signal and industrial equipment) and for automatic electrical controls for use in, on, or in association with equipment for residential and similar use. The standard differs from DIN EN 61812-1 (VDE 0435-2021):2012-03 and DIN EN 61812-1 Corrigendum 1 (VDE 0435-2021 Corrigendum 1):2015-04 as follows: a) update of references; b) inclusion of requirements for risk assessment; c) inclusion of requirements for routine testing; d) renumbering of classes to reflect a more logical sequence; e) clarification of requirements for shock; f) inclusion of requirements for cybersecurity in industrial automation and control systems; g) inclusion of the requirement for environmentally conscious design; h) inclusion of references to a common reference glossary; i) inclusion of terms for relay types; j) inclusion of coupling relays in the title; k) inclusion of coupling relays in the scope. The application of this document increases investment security for manufacturers and users, provides testing laboratories and manufacturers with defined information for testing, and enhances product compatibility across manufacturers.
