Maintainability of equipment - Part 5: Testability and diagnostic testing

Abstract

IEC 60706-5 is an international standard on the maintainability of technical systems, with a focus on testability and diagnostics. It describes how products should be designed so that faults can be detected at an early stage and clearly pinpointed. A key aspect is the integration of test and diagnostic concepts as early as the development phase. The standard helps to make maintenance processes more efficient and reduce downtime. In practice, it therefore contributes to higher availability, better quality and lower costs.
