Ventilation for buildings - Metallic ventilation ducts - Requirements and test methods

Abstract

This European Standard defines the test methods and performance characteristics for metallic ductwork which are used for ventilation and air conditioning of buildings. This standard does not include ductwork made from insulation duct board, which is handled in EN 13403, non-metallic ductwork as handled in prEN 17192 and all components that have more functions than the transport of air, e.g. fire dampers, filter units, air terminal devices. Requirements for the air tightness of the ventilation system for non-residential buildings are given in EN 16798-3. For residential buildings, it is essential to apply national rules. This standard specifies methods to test metallic ductwork under laboratory conditions. On-site tests are excluded. The test methods and performance characteristics are valid for ventilation ducts with circular, rectangular or other cross sections. Annotation: It is intended to summarize, update and correct existing standards (eg EN 1505, EN 1506, EN 1507, EN 12237) for air line requirements and their test method. This should be the basis for a later harmonization of the standard for the implementation of the EU Decision 2015/1936.
