Abstract

This standard specifies accuracy class 2 (engineering method) procedures for the determination of the sound power level and the sound energy level of a noise source from sound pressure levels measured on a surface enclosing the noise source (a machine or an appliance) (enveloping surface), the noise source being located in an environment approximating an open-air acoustic field in the vicinity of one or more reflecting planes. The sound power level (or sound energy level for impulses or other sounds of short duration) generated by the noise source in frequency bands or with A-weighting is calculated from the measured sound pressure levels
