Overview

This document applies to installation switches in accordance with DIN EN 60669-1 (VDE 0632-1) - for recessed mounting in walls of all types, appliances, furniture, and other fixtures (with or without mounting boxes); - on mounting surfaces of all types. The document deals with dimensions, particularly those without additional contours, as well as a new structure and updated references. The document does not specify any concrete restrictions; however, verification tests may be required. The standard differs from DIN 49200:1987-12 as follows: a) the maximum dimension of 32 applies without additional contours (for example, screws/screw heads, rivets, etcetera); this previously applied practice has now been specified in the standard. Verification may be necessary within the scope of the new edition of DIN EN 60669-1 (VDE 0632-1); b) exceeding the maximum installation depth of 32 is now also permitted, but only if the manufacturer specifies a suitable mounting box or includes one with the switch; c) new document structure and update of the scope and normative references; d) update of the title and the text of the standard; e) form C deleted. This document is intended for the design and testing of installation switches in accordance with DIN EN 60669-1 (VDE 0632-1).
