Overview

This document applies to two-pole sockets with protective contact in accordance with DIN VDE 0620 (VDE 0620) that are intended for installation in mounting boxes in accordance with DIN 49073. The document deals with requirements for two-pole sockets with protective contact in accordance with DIN VDE 0620, in particular their installation in mounting boxes in accordance with DIN 49073. The document applies only to two-pole sockets with protective contact in accordance with DIN VDE 0620 that are installed in mounting boxes in accordance with DIN 49073. The standard differs from DIN 49440-5:1989-12 as follows: a) the maximum dimension of 32 applies without additional contours (for example, bolt/bolt head, rivet, etcetera). This previously applied practice is now specified in the standard; re-testing may be necessary after the transition period of DIN VDE 0620-1 (VDE 0620-1):2016 + A1:2017 has expired; b) new document structure and update of the scope and normative references; c) update of the title and the standard text. This document is intended for the design and testing of two-pole sockets with protective contact in accordance with DIN VDE 0620 (VDE 0620), which are intended for installation in mounting sockets in accordance with DIN 49073.
