This document has been prepared by DIN Standards Committee Fasteners (FMV), Working Committee NA 067-00-08 AA "Verbindungselemente mit Sonderformen und aus Kunststoff" ("Fasteners with special elements and made of plastic"). This document specifies the properties for lifting eye bolts made of steel and stainless steel for lower loadbearing capacities as compared to DIN EN ISO 3266 per diameter. Lifting eye bolts in accordance with this document can be used as part of slings or as fixed anchor points on machines. As mobile load-bearing devices, lifting eye bolts require CE marking in accordance with the Machinery Directive (EC Directive 2006/42/EC) within the European Union. Annex B provides assistance for implementing the requirements resulting from the current legislation at the time of this edition of the standard. The European Machinery Directive is aimed at manufacturers or their authorized representatives, among others. They bear the responsibility of adhering to the requirements of the directive. Furthermore, this document provides information on the correct usage of lifting eye bolts in lifting operations. Lifting eye bolts conforming to this document are suitable for use at temperatures ranging from - 20 °C up to + 200 °C without a reduction in their lifting capacity.
