Testing of rubber - Determination of tensile strength at break, tensile stress at yield, elongation at break and stress values in a tensile test

Title (German)

Prüfung von Kautschuk und Elastomeren - Bestimmung von Reißfestigkeit, Zugfestigkeit, Reißdehnung und Spannungswerten im Zugversuch

Overview

This standard applies to the determination of tensile strength at break, tensile stress at yield, elongation at break and stress values of test specimens of certain shapes made of rubber and elastomers when stretching the test specimens at constant speed until break occurs. In the tensile test the complete force-elongation curve shall be recorded because the tensile strength and elongation at break alone do not sufficiently characterize the behaviour of elastomers under tensile stress. This standard has been prepared by NA 062-04-34 AA "Prüfung der physikalischen Eigenschaften von Kautschuk und Elastomeren" ("Test procedures for physical properties of rubber") at DIN Standards Committee Materials Testing (NMP).
