Title (German)

Explosionsfähige Atmosphären - Teil 37: Nicht-elektrische Geräte für den Einsatz in explosionsfähigen Atmosphären - Schutz durch konstruktive Sicherheit "c", Zündquellenüberwachung "b", Flüssigkeitskapselung "k" (ISO 80079-37:2016); Deutsche Fassung EN ISO 80079-37:2016

Overview

This International Standard specifies the requirements for the design and construction of nonelectrical equipment, intended for use in explosive atmospheres, protected by the types of protection constructional safety "c", control of ignition source "b" and liquid immersion "k". The standard supplements and modifies the requirements in E DIN EN ISO 80079-36. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with the requirement of E DIN EN ISO 80079-36 the requirement of this standard takes precedence. Types of Protection "c", "k" and "b" are not applicable for Group I, EPL Ma without additional protective precautions. The types of ignition protection described in the standard can be used either on their own or in combination with each other to meet the requirements for equipment of Group I, Group II, and Group III depending on the ignition hazard assessment in E DIN EN ISO 80079-36. This standard serves as the basis for placing non-electrical equipment on the market under Directive 94/9/EU for explosive atmospheres. This is intended to establish a uniform level of safety. Possible users of this standard are testing institutes, certification bodies and manufacturers. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association and supports essential requirements of EU Directives. This standard has been prepared by IEC/TC 31/SC 31M "Non-electrical equipment and protective systems for explosive atmospheres" in cooperation with Technical Committee CEN/TC 305 "Potentially explosive atmospheres - Explosion prevention and protection", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 095-02-02 AA "Betriebsmittel zur Verwendung in explosionsfähigen Atmosphären" ("Equipment for use in potentially explosive atmospheres") at DIN Standards Committee Safety Design Principles (NASG). This standard will replace the standards DIN EN 13463-5, -6 and -8 published by CEN/TC 305.
