DATA4CIRC

DATA-DRIVEN AI-ASSISTED DIGITAL FRAMEWORK FOR ENHANCING CIRCULARITY IN MANUFACTURING

DATA4CIRC – Sustainable Digitalization of the industry

DATA4CIRC is revolutionising the manufacturing sector with innovative solutions and secure data exchange to make production eco-friendlier and more efficient. The aim is to reduce the carbon footprint of factories while increasing their competitiveness. To achieve this, DATA4CIRC relies on secure data spaces for the trustworthy exchange of production data, digital models for better assessment of environmental impacts, and the Digital Product Passport (DPP), which tracks the entire life cycle of a product and thus facilitates recycling and reuse. In addition, an AI-powered life cycle assessment (LCA) is used to assess the environmental impact of products from production to disposal.

DATA4CIRC’s solutions are tested in the plastics, electronics and automotive sectors facilitating sustainable, circular value chains. The technologies developed prioritize human involvement: they are user-friendly, based on established standards and optimised through co-creation and co-validation together with industry partners. Training programmes also promote upskilling and reskilling of specialized workers in order to make the manufacturing industry fit for the digital future. In this way, DATA4CIRC is driving the transformation towards more environmentally friendly and intelligent production.

DIN is responsible for the standardization activities within the project. This includes the following tasks: compilation of an overview of published standards relevant for the project, development of a standardization strategy for DATA4CIRC including the analysis of standardization gaps, the identification of needs for new or revised standards, and, where appropriate, the drafting of CEN Workshop Agreements (CWA) with the project partners and any interested experts.
