Resilient Energy-Adaptive Concepts and Technologies for the Heating and Cooling Supply of Buildings
The project aims to systematically investigate and quantify the effects of future climatic developments, changing building standards, and socio-cultural shifts (e.g. in user behaviour) on the heating and cooling demand of buildings. Building on this, existing building energy supply systems will be assessed for their long-term suitability, efficiency, and resilience, particularly in light of operational lifetimes spanning several decades.
Greater planning certainty for future-proof building energy supply
On this basis, the project develops sound planning foundations and practical recommendations for the needs-based sizing and design of heating, cooling, and ventilation systems. In the long term, this is intended to support a sustainable, cost-effective, and future-proof energy supply in the building sector while also creating greater planning certainty for design engineers and users.
Bridging research and application through standardization
To help translate the project results into practice, ReaKT also examines the existing normative framework. A key focus of the project is to identify the potential need to adapt existing technical standards and guidelines and to integrate current scientific and technological findings into their ongoing development.
DIN serves as the central point of contact for standardization within the project. Its responsibilities include coordinating and communicating all standardization-related activities and topics. In addition, DIN acts as the interface to the relevant standardization committees and facilitates regular exchange and coordination formats.
Another key focus is to identify relevant standards and standardization initiatives, assess existing gaps and potential needs for adaptation in current standards and related documents through workshops and surveys, and based on these findings, develop recommendations for the further advancement of standardization in this field. The results are submitted to the responsible standardization committees for further discussion and consideration.
