Rules for writing and layout of word and information processing
Abstract
This standard specifies how the uniform use of characters in text and information processing systems with alphanumeric keyboards ensures easy and unambiguous legibility of texts and how the documents are designed in a practical and clear manner by means of appropriate design rules. The specifications in this standard contribute to facilitating text input, reducing typing work, enabling information to be processed and ensuring the transmission of data between different devices. However, this standard does not contain any specifications regarding the character sets suitable for electronic data exchange. In some cases, the "Rules for writing and layout of word and information processing" deviate from the specifications for typesetting. For the preparation of representative text works, it is recommended that Annex F be observed and that selected typographic conventions be applied.
