Plain language - Application for the German language - Part 1: Language-specific provisions

Abstract

This document specifies general rules for writing non-fiction texts in plain German. These rules are based on the general principles in DIN ISO 24495-1. These principles provide the framework for plain language and are formulated in a linguistically and culturally neutral way. The target group of plain language is explicitly not readers with cognitive impairments. In this respect, principles and rules for “Leichte Sprache” according to §11 BGG (German Equal Opportunities for People with Disabilities Act) are not part of this standard. The general recommendations from DIN ISO 24495-1 are concretized in this document for the German language, partially raised to requirements and supplemented by relevant further specifications.
