Identification of pipelines according to the fluid conveyed

Overview
This standard is applicable for the identification of pipelines in aboveground installations according to the fluid conveyed. This document may also be applied to the marking of flexible lines. The identification of piping systems on ships and marine installations as specified in DIN ISO 14276, the identification of ventilation systems in non-residential buildings in accordance with DIN EN 16798-3, the identification of piping systems for medical gases in accordance with DIN EN ISO 7396-1 and DIN EN ISO 7396-2, as well as other piping identification specified elsewhere, are not dealt with in this document. A clear identification of pipelines according to the fluid conveyed is essential for ensuring safety, correct maintenance operations and effective firefighting. It should warn of hazards in order to prevent accidents and damage to health. This document has been prepared by the Joint Working Committee NA 095-01-06 GA "Sicherheitskennzeichnung" ("Safety identification") at Standards Committee Safety Design Principles (NASG).
